Lloydminster Parade of Lights - December 21 2017
In 2015 citizens of our wonderful community started to come together to put on a show of lights over the holiday season that would represent our Christmas spirit. While starting off small Ryan Leblanc heading a committee of people from our community wanted to harness the popularity of the event to benefit organizations in need. Raising a few thousand dollars in its first two years to benefit the community the Parade was looking to grow.
Ryan had approached us in November with a great idea to approach the local hospital and see where was a need and to see if there was someway for us to step in and help. Boundary Ford decided at this point to step up and take the entire project on! We worked on the ground floor with Doctors, Nurses & hospital personnel taking in everything from them and putting our resources to work.
In the end we were able to provide the Maternity Ward with two “Bili Blankets” which provide help with newborn babies that have Jaundice ( a medical condition with yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, arising from excess of the pigment bilirubin and typically caused by obstruction of the bile duct, by liver disease, or by excessive breakdown of red blood cells.) These Bili Blankets also allow for the mother/parents to be with there child instead of under a light, which is so important for newborns. These were vital to the hospital and maternity ward. We are so proud that we were able to make and impact here where it was so desperately needed, directly helping our community, families and children of tomorrow.
